Loras Chemistry Club Earns ACS Commendable Rating
The Loras College Chemistry Club earned a “Commendable” performance rating from the American Chemical Society (ACS) for the first time in the club’s history.

“Commendable” is the second-highest rating an ACS student chapter and receive. Of the 500 student chapters around the world, only the top 30% reach that level. The highest possible rating of “Outstanding” is bestowed on the top 10%.

ACS based its rankings on the performance of the organization during the 2018-2019 academic year. The club previously earned the “Honorable Mention” ranking for the 2017-18 year, which placed it in the top 50% of student chapters.

Founded in 1876 and chartered by the U.S. Congress, ACS is the world’s largest scientific society. Its mission is to advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners for the benefit of Earth and its people.

ACS student chapters are organizations for undergraduate students with interest in the chemical sciences. Members participate in a wide range of programs and activities that enhance their college experience and prepare them for successful careers.
