Medical Associates Clinic is pleased to announce that Tom Pfiffner has accepted the Chief Operating Officer position for Medical Associates Clinic. He began his new role on Monday, November 7, 2022.

Pfiffner is a Dubuque native who has worked in multiple health systems since graduating from the University of Iowa. He was previously with Northwestern Medicine and Advocate Aurora Health in Chicago for over 20 years in various leadership roles and has an extensive background in clinical and surgical operations, revenue cycle, systems, mergers, and acquisitions. He worked most recently as the Senior Vice President of Strategic Operations at American Orthopedic Partners, LLC, where he led the effort to integrate clinical and quality programs across their national orthopedic practice.

Brian Schatz

Pfiffner succeeds the current COO, Brian Schatz, who retired at the end of 2022. Schatz served as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer for 23 years. During his time at Medical Associates Clinic, he navigated the organization through major changes within the healthcare industry and achieved a number of significant accomplishments. During his tenure, the Clinic grew over 40% from 132 to 187 physicians and advanced practice providers.

Brian Loc, DO

Medical Associates Clinic is also pleased to announce that Brian Loc, DO, has successfully passed the 2022 Cardiovascular Disease Certification Examination and is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).

Certification by the ABIM is a significant achievement that represents the highest standard in Internal medicine with demonstration of clinical judgment, skills, and attitudes essential for excellent patient care.
